As it operates with a gasoline engine, a specific sequence must be meticulously followed to ensure the correct startup of the pressure washer’s engine.
STEPS
Step 1: Begin by placing the pressure washer on a flat and stable surface. Connect one end of a garden hose to an outdoor water source, such as a spigot.
Step 2: Examine the high-pressure hose that links the water pump to the spray handle using a combination wrench to ensure it’s securely tightened. Tighten the hose if it feels loose.
Step 3: Attach the garden hose to the pressure washer’s “Water Inlet” by hand and turn on the outdoor water source to initiate the water flow into the washer.
Step 4: Remove any trapped air and debris from the pressure washer and its lines by pressing and holding the trigger on the sprayer gun until water consistently flows from its nozzle.
Step 5: If not already in place, attach the nozzle extension to the end of the spray gun, making sure it is hand-tightened.
Step 6: Slide the nozzle extension to the low-pressure position.
Step 7: Engage the trigger lock, a small spring-loaded tab located at the bottom of the trigger, to secure the trigger in the off position.
Step 8: Move the throttle lever, typically situated on the right side of the engine, to the “Fast” setting.
Step 9: Adjust the engine choke to the “Choke” position if the engine is cold, or to the “Run” position if the engine is already warm.
Step 10: Firmly grasp the rubber T-handle attached to the pull-string on top of the engine. Gently pull it upwards until you encounter slight resistance. Quickly pull the T-handle upward to initiate the engine, and then return the handle to its original position. Repeat this process until the engine starts. If the engine starts briefly but stalls, press the trigger on the sprayer gun to release water pressure.
Step 11: As the engine begins to warm up, gradually switch the engine choke to the “Run” position. If the engine stumbles slightly when moving the choke to “Run,” revert the choke knob to the “Choke” position and allow the engine to warm up further. Repeat this step until the engine runs smoothly with the choke in the “Run” position.
Step 12: If the pressure washer fails to start after six pulls of the T-handle, turn the choke knob to the “Run” position and repeat step 10 until the washer starts.
